CCSB III

It's Sunday. The week of Ash Wednesday (past). As a Spiritual Being, I am struggling to keep a focus on the spiritual while dealing with the human. As stated in The Voice New Testament narrative of John 27: "As Christian citizens, we have an obligation to actively strive for justice and freedom".
Lasting justice and morality cannot be lobbied for or legislated. It is the result of the Holy Spirit's work in the lives of those of us who learn that God loves us.
When you're up to your a_ _ in alligators, it's hard to remember that your purpose is to drain the swamp.
Keep trying.

CCSB II

It's Sunday again, the Lord's Day. Seven weeks ago, we celebrated the birth of Jesus. Now we're on the way to Easter.
CCSB's need to begin thinking in terms of "Human" vs "Spiritual" existance. There are responsibilities to both realms. Although we are focused on the spiritual, we cannot ignore the human element.
More on this later.

CCSB

It's Sunday, the Lord's Day. It's time for the Christian Church of Spiritual Beings (CCSB) to come together and worship Jesus Christ.
Never mind the human issues. After all, the human journey is very short. We're here to recharge the spirit. For some, life's a bitch and then you die. For CCSB's life can be tough, but the focus is on the afterlife.
Jesus forgives sin. Do the best you can. Fight off temptation. Treat each other decently. Rejoice in each other in the name of Jesus.

Spirits II

Eleven days from today 2-3 Billion people on earth will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. As Christian Spiritual Beings, this is the most important celebration of our lives. God on earth. God beginning the human journey. God among us. God delivering His message that all you have to do is Believe in Him. Trust your life to Him, no matter what. Yes, it's hard to do sometimes with the problems that human life throws at us. All these human hormones, deceit, greed and evil test us constantly. We fail, try again, fail and ask forgiveness, try again.

When this journey is over, it won't matter how big your house or your bank account is; It will be what's written on your heart.

Do the best you can. God knows what you're going through, He's been here, done that!

Happy Birthday Jesus.

Honduras

The Honduran Congress voted yesterday to deny former president Manuel Zelaya a return to power for the final two months of his term. The vote was 111-4. Zelaya had already said (before the vote) that he would not return to office if asked.
Zelaya was removed from office by the government after he defied the supreme court and congress in an attempt to hold a referendum changing the constitution. The change would allow him to run for re-election, which the current constitution bans. Most of the world's nations have punished the Honduran government for their action, including President Obama. Hugo Chevez, Zelaya's buddy, changed the Venezuelan constitution in the same way and was condemned by world governments for trying to establish a socialist state.
If President Obama tried to change the constitution of the United States in defiance of Congress and the Supreme Court, what do you think would happen?
Recognize that Honduras has an elected government, lift the sanctions and focus instead on getting Hugo Chavez out of office.

Capital Punishment

Last night John Muhammad was executed for killing 10 people. His accomplice, Lee Malvo, who should have been with him, is in prison serving "life without parole". According to one reporter, John walked into the execution chamber and lay down on a bed with "needles dug into his arms". (That reporter missed class on the day they taught students to spell "inserted".)
The U.S. Supreme Court and the Governor of Virginia rejected appeals that John should not be executed because he was mentally ill. What? Of coarse he was mentally ill, you have to be crazy to take a rifle and go murder 10 innocent human beings going about their everyday lives.
It is a disservice to those who are truly mentally ill to link John and Lee to them. True mentally ill people don't understand right from wrong. John and Lee knew perfectly what they were doing.
Those criminals on death row and those serving "life without the possibility of parole" should be put in line for God's judgement, they should not be living among us.

Healthcare Plan

The health care plan passed the House last week, now on to the Senate. I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I'm not in favor of of government involvement in private business. On the other hand, having retired last year (without medicare because I need insurance for the family) only to discover that the family insurance premium is more than $1100 a month, I'm back at work for the insurance.
Pre-existing conditions, deductibles and co-pays still place unreasonable (unaffordable) financial burdens on me and my family.
One news report says U.S. insurance companies made $12 billion in profits in 2003, growing to $28 billion last year. Biggest complaints seem to be people getting turned down because they have been sick in the past (pre-existing conditions). And insurance companies refusing to cover illnesses once the customer has insurance. I guess the insuarance companies don't like to insure sick people because it lowers profits, and they don't like to pay for policy holders who get sick because it lowers profits. But it seems like those are the reasons people buy insurance. I'm confused.
I suppose that government intervention is necessary to hold these companies responsible for doing the right thing, and keeping uncontrolled greed at bay.
